Position Summary:

Full-time or Part-time opportunity available

Responsible for providing intake assessment, crisis intervention and brief solution focused counselling and support services for children and families with serious behavioural, emotional and social problems and as required completing these responsibilities in French language. This is a collaborative project of three agencies: Vanier Childrens Mental Wellness; Merrymount Family Support & Crisis Centre; and Humana Community Services.

Education/Training/Experience:

  • College diploma or university degree in child and youth work; social service work or equivalent specialization
  • Preference given to applicants with 3 or more years experience delivering crisis supports / work in a crisis setting.
  • Bilingual in French is required.
  • Must have Red Cross First Aid, CPR C, and Safe Management certification at the time of applying for this position.
  • Valid drivers license, with adequate liability and own vehicle.


Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent written communication skills and efficient computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide crisis work including clinical, case management, group work and family counselling.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the childrens service delivery system.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate community or internal workshop/training experience.
  • Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team environment and in effective collaboration with community professionals.
  • Brief solution focus counseling skills for children with complex emotional, behavioural, social issues and their families.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of vicarious trauma with the development of a solid self-care plan.

  • TAPP-C Assessment Trained
  • ASIST certification
  • EMHware for CIT trained
  • Fluent in a language other than English and French, including ASL

  • InterRAI Screener Plus training
  • Motivational Interviewing Training


Pay:

  • $28.94 - $32.56 per hour

  • 35-hour work week
