<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Director, Organizational Support and Readiness (2 openings) – Permanent, full-time. Reports to the Vice President, Organizational Support and Readiness. This senior leadership role leads staff, support systems, and special program requirements for the provincial EHS system, including EHS/EMC physical resources, procurement, materials management, business continuity, and EHS special programs.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Lead development, implementation, maintenance, and service direction for all aspects relating to EHS/EMC physical resources, procurement, materials management, fleet management, facilities management, and business continuity.</li><li>Build and maintain positive relationships with external partners such as EHS/DHW, Tri-Star Industries, facility landlords, and other healthcare system partners; collaborate with EMC divisions and departments.</li><li>Lead departmental budgeting with budget maintenance, forecasting, monitoring of fiscal responsibilities, Corporate Visa monitoring and compliance, in conjunction with the Vice President.</li><li>Communicate company philosophy and policy; solicit feedback to align goals across the organization; grow department business and operational functions.</li><li>Participate in safety initiatives to foster a culture focused on patient safety and a safe workplace.</li><li>Share duties between two Directors: one focused on Fleet, the other on Facilities and Logistics.</li></ul><h3>Fleet Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Oversee development and management of EMC Fleet policies and procedures; educate fleet staff on HR processes and policies.</li><li>Provide oversight to Fleet Manager and liaise with Tri-Star Industries; maintain relationships with EHS system vehicle manufacturer.</li><li>Oversee coordination of EHS/EMC Fleet Management and Contract Management Committees; manage the EHS vehicle quality assurance program with Tri-Star Industries.</li><li>Manage Tri-Star Industries COE inventory for EHS; oversee vehicle collisions documentation and repairs; ensure readiness of fleet spares.</li><li>Ensure fleet vehicles are repaired and stocked per EMC and EHS Fleet Policy; lead fleet efficiency initiatives with Corporate Procurement and Finance.</li><li>Develop in-house fleet QA audit program; oversee direct reports’ performance and safety culture initiatives.</li></ul><h3>Procurement / Asset Management</h3><ul><li>Oversee Logistics Department performance, staff development, and service direction; ensure customer/patient service priorities and effective resource decisions.</li><li>Provide leadership to Manager, Logistics & Materials Management; manage site visits, coaching, discipline, EFAP, OHS, Wellness, payroll, and performance management.</li><li>Lead provincial procurement, inventory, facilities leasing/maintenance, equipment standards; monitor ~$4M budget and asset management.</li><li>Ensure procurement and inventory processes meet contract requirements; oversee reports to Vice President.</li></ul><h3>Facility Management</h3><ul><li>Lead EMC Facilities oversight with VP, including leases, renewals, new facilities, maintenance, and reporting.</li><li>Monitor facility management decisions affecting cost control and efficiency; maintain readiness of system stations; promote energy efficiency.</li></ul><h3>External and Other Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Maintain relationships with Health Authorities and government departments; coordinate disaster and business continuity planning with Medavie EMS; communicate with external agencies.</li><li>Engage in public/community outreach with stakeholders; participate in provincial EMO planning committees as needed.</li><li>Drive attraction, retention, and engagement strategies for Organizational Support and Readiness; monitor team services, processes, and financial management; develop strategic business plans.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications and Requirements</h3><p>Education / Experience:</p><ul><li>Minimum seven years in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or equivalent health administration field.</li><li>Minimum five years in progressively responsible supervisory/managerial roles related to process improvement, strategic planning, data gathering, outcome evaluation, project management, coaching, or mentoring.</li><li>Post-secondary education in business or health administration is an asset or equivalent experience.</li><li>Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver’s license in good standing.</li><li>Strong understanding of ambulance industry and business functions including EMS operations, fleet, facilities, HR, finance, inventory control, and CQI; budgeting experience required.</li><li>Knowledge of Canadian health and emergency management models, legislation, and public safety programs; experience with strategic planning and customer service excellence is an asset.</li><li>Ability to champion quality initiatives across organizations; strong budgeting experience required.</li></ul><h3>Knowledge & Skills</h3><ul><li>Understanding of ambulance industry and related business functions; EMS management, IT, finance, HR considered assets.</li><li>Strong leadership, team building, and staff engagement skills; professional image and work ethic.</li><li>Experience in quality initiatives, stakeholder collaboration, and external partnerships.</li><li>Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; strong consultative ability.</li><li>Self-starter with sound decision-making and problem-solving; ability to manage multiple projects.</li><li>Strong computer skills with MS Office; ability to generate reports and dashboards for performance monitoring.</li><li>High customer service standards and ability to negotiate and resolve disputes; discretionary judgment aligned with organizational goals.</li></ul><h3>Physical Requirements</h3><p>The role may require sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying light objects; long periods at a desk. Reading, data input, report writing, and use of office equipment.
