<p><b>Financial Controller</b></p><p>Vaughan (On-site - 5 days/week)</p><p>$150,000 - $180,000 base + bonus + benefits </p><p><br></p><p>Our client is a <b>well-established, privately held real estate land development group.</b> Known for its collaborative, family-oriented culture and long-term approach to development, the organization is well-capitalized, growth-focused, and committed to building sustainable communities.</p><p><br></p><p>We are partnering with them to identify a <b>Financial Controller</b> to join their finance leadership team. This role will oversee the accounting, financial reporting, and cash management for a portfolio of land development projects while leading and supporting a sizable team of accounting professionals. The ideal candidate is a technically strong CPA with real estate development experience who values collaboration, culture, and hands-on leadership.</p><p><br></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Oversee full-cycle project accounting across a portfolio of land development projects</li><li>Lead and support a team of general, AP, and project accountants </li><li>Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements</li><li>Maintain ownership of year-end financial reporting and audit processes (including coordination with external auditors)</li><li>Manage payroll operations using ADP for approximately 40 employees</li><li>Review and approve cheque runs, bank draws, banker's acceptances (BA's), and bank reporting</li><li>Manage financing facilities, loans, letters of credit, and cash positions; recommend financing requirements as needed</li><li>Partner closely with Project Managers on project-level financial matters, leasing structures, and development economics</li><li>Prepare and review investor reporting, cash calls, and distributions</li><li>Oversee government reporting (HST, T5018, etc.) and manage CRA inquiries and audits</li><li>Support ongoing corporate maintenance activities (entity setup, dissolutions, amalgamations)</li><li>Drive process improvement initiatives, including adoption of <b>NetSuite, AI, and automation tools</b></li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>CPA designation required</li><li>3-5+ years of experience in a Controller, Project Controller, or senior accounting role</li><li>Strong background in <b>real estate land development accounting</b></li><li>Experience managing and mentoring accounting teams</li><li>Familiarity with financing arrangements, bank relationships, and investor reporting</li><li>Payroll experience required (ADP experience preferred)</li><li>Experience with <b>NetSuite (Oracle)</b> strongly preferred</li><li>Tech-savvy with an interest in AI, automation, and process improvement</li><li>Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>What Our Client Offers</b></p><ul><li>Competitive compensation package with bonus</li><li>A stable, well-capitalized organization with long-term development projects</li><li>Strong work-life balance despite full-time in-office environment</li><li>Opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a period of growth and transition</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.</p>Create Your Resume First
