Established in 1977, as a locally owned and operated cooperative, Westman is dedicated to delivering competitive and innovative services, providing an exceptional member experience, and supporting the communities we serve.</p><h3>Benefits</h3><p><b>What we have to offer:</b></p><ul><li>Competitive compensation package.</li><li>Comprehensive group benefits plan (extended health; life; dental; vision; GRRSP; and health and wellness).</li><li>Various Learning and Development initiatives, and opportunities to grow within our team!</li><li>Opportunity to participate in company events and activities and enjoy our company perks!</li></ul><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Identify and recommend changes to improve network performance, security, and reliability.</li><li>Plan and coordinate all changes to network systems and services.</li><li>Design and implement activities for access network upgrade projects.</li><li>Analyze and document potential points of failure in the network and build redundancies.</li><li>Ensure required software upgrades are applied to the access network elements in a timely fashion, with proper testing and documentation.</li><li>Perform product evaluations and proof of concept testing for new products to be used in the access network.</li><li>Provide Tier 2/3 support for internal and external customers when needed.</li><li>Maintain a current knowledge of network best practices and network security.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field.</li><li>Minimum 3 years of experience in an ISP or MSO environment with excellent knowledge and experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining DOCSIS and FTTX infrastructure.</li><li>Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.</li><li>Must be bondable and available to be on call.</li><li>IT infrastructure standards and configuration best practices.</li><li>Networking knowledge (TCP/IP networking and core technologies).</li><li>Routing, switching, voice media gateways, SIP/TDM trunking.</li><li>Internet and IP Protocols including but not limited to:<ul><li>Ethernet, VLANs, Spanning Tree, LACP, MLAG.</li><li>IPv4, IPv6, ICMP, ICMPv6, TCP, UDP.</li><li>OSPF, EGP, BGP, IGRP, RIP, ISIS, VRF, MPLS, VPLS.</li><li>IP Multicast – SSM, IGMPv3, PIMv2.</li><li>VXLAN Bridging and Routing, MPLS VLL.</li><li>DHCP, DNS, TFTP, SNMP.</li><li>Scripting languages for task automation (PHP, Perl, Python etc).</li><li>Fibre transport technologies (DWDM, Coherent optics).</li><li>Last mile access technologies and RF fundamentals.</li><li>Linux/general Linux support issues.</li></ul></li></ul><p><b>DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS:</b> This position is open until filled.</p><p>As an equal-opportunity employer, we are committed to an inclusive and barrier free environment at Westman Communications Group and encourage applications from all qualified individuals.
