As a family-owned design and build company rooted in Ottawa for over 60 years, we are known for thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and guiding homeowners through renovations with care and confidence.</p><p>We are looking for a Senior Designer who is passionate about whole-home residential design and enjoys leading projects from first conversation to final detail.</p><p>About the Role</p><p>As a Senior Designer at OakWood, you will be a trusted guide for our clients and a key collaborator within our in-house team. You will lead the design of full-home renovations—including kitchens and bathrooms—translating ideas into well-resolved, buildable designs that feel both beautiful and livable.</p><p>This role is ideal for a designer who values collaboration, takes pride in craftsmanship, and understands that great design is as much about listening as it is about creativity.</p><p>What You'll Do</p><ul><li>Work with sales to establish an initial concept design before the project is sold</li><li>Lead the design of residential renovation and whole home projects</li><li>Build strong, lasting relationships with clients through clear communication and thoughtful guidance</li><li>Translate client goals into cohesive, functional, and timeless design solutions</li><li>Develop space plans, concepts, and construction drawings with support from architectural technologists</li><li>Guide clients confidently through material, cabinetry, fixture, and finish selections</li><li>Collaborate closely with estimators, architectural technologists, project managers, and construction teams</li><li>Ensure designs align with project budgets, schedules, and technical requirements</li><li>Maintain clear and organized documentation throughout the design and build process, with the help of an estimator who will create change order reports</li><li>Contribute to design standards, mentorship, and a positive team culture</li></ul><p>What You Bring</p><ul><li>Degree or diploma in Design or a related field</li><li>7+ years of residential design experience, including whole-home renovations</li><li>Strong understanding of residential construction and renovation practices</li><li>Experience working in a design-build environment</li><li>Proficiency with design software, Revit is an asset</li><li>Excellent space-planning, detailing, and problem-solving skills</li><li>Confident, professional, and client-focused communication style</li><li>Organized, reliable, and comfortable managing multiple projects</li></ul><p>Why OakWood</p><ul><li>Work on meaningful, high-quality residential projects from start to finish</li><li>Be part of a close-knit, experienced in-house design and construction team</li><li>Join a respected, family-run company with deep roots in the Ottawa community</li><li>Collaborative, supportive, and professional work environment</li><li>Competitive compensation based on experience</li></ul><p>How to Apply</p><p>If you believe this position aligns with your skills and aspirations, we eagerly await your resume.
