We provide personalized services to various clients globally and are seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory / Facility Electrical Engineer for our Life Sciences business unit in our Kanata office. Successful candidates must be self‑starting, motivated, innovative, articulate, self‑disciplined, and confident in a fast‑paced setting. This position requires a competent professional engineer responsible for all phases of engineering production and BIM for projects ranging from programming through construction administration, including interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating design and production efforts for one or more large or complex projects.</p>
<p><b>Salary range for this position is $127,000.00 - $156,000.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.</b></p>
<h3>What You'll Do</h3>
<ul>
<li>Design electrical systems for facilities/laboratories for government, university, and private clients.</li>
<li>Provide conceptual/detailed design and analysis for facility power distribution (600 V), site power distribution (15 kV), emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications (voice/data), fire alarm/mass notification, security, access control, and special systems.</li>
<li>Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.</li>
<li>Demonstrate extensive knowledge of electrical regulatory codes.</li>
<li>Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.</li>
<li>Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work.</li>
<li>Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments.</li>
<li>Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.</li>
<li>Work effectively within a collaborative team environment.</li>
<li>Complete tasks with accuracy and strong attention to detail.</li>
<li>Consistently meet deadlines, completing tasks as previously defined.</li>
<li>Travel as needed.</li>
<li>Write and edit specifications.</li>
<li>Work in a design team environment, including directing and mentoring junior engineers and designers, delegating work as required, and managing the local team.</li>
<li>Capable of performing all the above with minimal direction.</li>
<li>Work an agreed‑upon hybrid schedule, working from both home and office, is available to employees in good standing.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Required Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Twelve (12) years of experience in facility electrical engineering design.</li>
<li>Experience using REVIT/AutoCAD or other design software‑based drawing generation.</li>
<li>Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.</li>
<li>Experience using electrical calculation tools is desired, including lighting and power software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, and EasyPower.</li>
<li>Proficiency using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.</li>
<li>Experience with technical codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE is required.</li>
<li>Client requirement for Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.</li>
<li>Local candidates are preferred.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Desired Qualifications</h3>

<li>Experience with USDA, ARS, CDC, and other laboratory clients is highly desired.</li>
