<p>The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves andthe development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.</p><h3>Job Information</h3><p>Dive into the heart of the GNWT¿s mission-critical IP network. You¿ll be the go-to expert for designing, maintaining, and supercharging our high-availability data services. From tackling complex routing protocols and cutting-edge cloud tech to ensuring seamless connectivity across our diverse landscape (local municipal and wide area), you¿ll be at the forefront of keeping things running smoothly 24/7.</p><p>Think fast, implement flawlessly, and make high-stakes decisions that directly impact essential government services across all 33 NWT communities. You¿ll be a key player in the Technology Service Centre, providing vital leadership and expertise to keep over 6, 100 users connected and productive.</p><p>If you¿re a tech whiz with a passion for complex challenges and a knack for keeping critical systems online, this is you chance to shine in a dynamic and exciting environment!</p><p>What you¿ll bring:</p><p>Ideally, you¿ve got a strong foundation with a degree in something like Network Engineering (building and managing those digital highways), Telecommunications Engineering (making sure the signals flow), Computer Science (the tech stuff), or Information Systems (putting it all together).</p><p><strong>Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:</strong></p><p>A degree in a related Network Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems program and three years of experience in server and network administration, IP data network support and operations.</p><p>A related Diploma: Maybe you¿ve earned a diploma in a relevant field like Network Technologies, Information Technology, or a similar program with a strong focus on networking. Paired with solid five years of experience.</p><ul><li>Server and Network Administration: You know your way around keeping servers and networks running like a well-oiled machine. Think configuration, maintenance, and keeping everything secure.</li><li>IP Data Network Support and Operations: You¿re fluent in the language of IP addresses and can troubleshoot network issues like a pro, ensuring data flows smoothly.</li><li>Network security (keeping the bad guys out)</li><li>TCIP/IP (the fundamental language of the internet)</li><li>VOIP services (making calls over the net, including critical 911/811 systems)</li><li>Integrating with Cloud technologies</li><li>Complex Routing Protocols (navigating the intricate pathway of the network)</li></ul><p>Essentially, we are looking for someone who understands the nuts and bolts of network infrastructure and has the hands-on experience to tackle complex challenges.
