Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Technical Engineer/Officer working in the Pickering Refurbishment, Performance Engineering - Department.
Reporting to the Manager Projects, you will be responsible for managing the health and performance of station systems to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Project Management, to ensure seamless integration and optimization of processes. You will be involved with the Pickering Refurbishment project to ensure systems are well maintained during shutdown and Return to Service (RTS).
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and driving system health improvements, including understanding past, present, and future work on these systems. Routine activities include trending, field inspections, system repair/modification strategies, and complex troubleshooting in response to station issues.
- Collecting, analyzing, and understanding data to troubleshoot, evaluate, respond to and prevent equipment failures and improve system performance and equipment reliability.
- Communicating with OPG staff, vendors, manufacturers and external industry partners as part of a top-performing team of nuclear professionals.
- Initializing and supporting major projects in area of responsibility.
- Serving as a technical representative in the design, development, and implementation of projects, ensuring compliance with stringent industry regulations.
- Documenting and updating project methodologies and processes, ensuring they accurately reflect the latest advancements and integrations within assigned systems.
- Addressing and resolving technical issues, providing strategic advice, and leading developmental studies to foster improvements during the design, commissioning, and operation phases of projects.
- Conducting thorough evaluations and economic assessments to enhance project outcomes and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- A four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in a related engineering field is preferred.
- Experience in monitoring systems health, systems performance, systems reliability, systems maintenance and providing complex troubleshooting and equipment failure evaluations under minimal supervision.
- Experience working with Component Condition Assessment (CCA), Scope Change Authorization (SCA), Preventative Maintenance (PM) Definition.
- Experience in the Nuclear sector is considered an asset.
- Ideally, candidates should have experience in power generation industries such as utilities, renewable generation but experience in other industrial and manufacturing sectors will be considered.
- Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure deliverables satisfy stakeholder requirements with a proven track record on delivering results.
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills to work with maintenance and operations in a technical support capacity and be comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations.
- Have a strong interest in fast-paced, challenging work environments where showing initiative and self-motivation are assets.
- Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario.

Base salary range considers factors including experience, education, and training; it is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs.
