The successful candidate will coordinate closely with Metrolinx, design partners, and other project stakeholders to ensure the systems design supports safe, maintainable, and operable infrastructure.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities & Duties </strong></p><p><strong>Systems Wayside Design & Integration</strong></p><ul><li>Lead and manage all engineering and design activities for wayside systems (power distribution, Overhead Catenary System, track, SCADA, communications, signalling interfaces, trackside equipment, and related infrastructure).</li><li>Oversee design production and validation to ensure compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements.</li><li>Coordinate with the System Integration and Interface team to define and manage interfaces between wayside systems, rolling stock, stations, and civil works.</li><li>Incorporate systems requirements, TVRA recommendations, and operational considerations into the design.</li><li>Ensure all wayside system designs align with project standards, Metrolinx requirements, and applicable codes.</li></ul><p><strong>Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Readiness</strong></p><ul><li>Develop and implement the O&M readiness strategy for systems assets, including maintainability, accessibility, and lifecycle management.</li><li>Review design documentation to ensure operational maintainability and reliability are built into design decisions.</li><li>Coordinate with Metrolinx and O&M stakeholders to define maintenance philosophies, asset management strategies, and spare parts planning.</li><li>Support preparation of O&M manuals, training programs, and handover documentation.</li></ul><p><strong>Management & Coordination</strong></p><ul><li>Lead a multidisciplinary team of systems engineers and designers, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables aligned with project milestones.</li><li>Manage design progress reviews, risk assessments, and change management processes for systems wayside design.</li><li>Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff, coordinating activities with design partners and subcontractors.</li><li>Serve as the primary contact for systems wayside matters in meetings with Metrolinx, WSP, and other stakeholders.</li></ul><p><strong>Interface and Assurance</strong></p><ul><li>Support the definition and validation of interface requirements between wayside systems and other project elements.</li><li>Contribute to system assurance activities, including RAMS, verification & validation, and safety certification.</li><li>Maintain configuration control and requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.</li><li>Coordinate with Integration and Testing & Commissioning teams to ensure readiness for dynamic testing.</li></ul><p><strong>Reporting and Compliance</strong></p><ul><li>Provide regular reporting on systems wayside design progress, risks, and issues to the Systems Director.</li><li>Ensure compliance with Metrolinx, provincial, and federal standards.</li><li>Manage and track actions arising from design reviews, RFIs, and technical clarifications.</li></ul><p><strong>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</strong></p><ul><li>Strong understanding of rail systems engineering and integration principles.</li><li>Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.</li><li>Proficient in systems engineering processes, configuration management, and interface coordination.</li><li>Familiarity with safety, assurance, and regulatory frameworks in rail or transit projects.</li><li>Competence in problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications & Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Systems Engineering.</li><li>10–15 years of experience in systems design, integration, and interface management for large-scale rail or transit infrastructure projects.</li><li>Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams in Design-Build or Public-Private Partnership (P3) environments.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of CENELEC / ISO / IEC systems engineering standards (EN 50126 / 50128 / 50129, ISO/IEC 15288).</li><li>Experience using requirements and configuration management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Aconex).</li><li>Experience in systems assurance, verification & validation, and commissioning support preferred.</li></ul><p></p><p><em>Alberici is a North American company with multiple Operating Companies:</em></p><p><em>Alberici Constructors, Inc., Alberici Constructors, LTD., Alberici Construcciones, BRC, CAS Constructors, Filanc, Flintco, Hillsdale Fabricators, Kienlen Constructors, and WWPS</em></p></p></p>Create Your Resume First
