Great Pacific Media is seeking a skilled 3D Generalist / VFX Artist to join our team on the acclaimed series Highway Thru Hell. This role focuses on recreating complex heavy-vehicle accident rescue sequences using detailed 3D animation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The artist will be responsible for rebuilding real-life accident recovery operations in 3D, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and visual storytelling. These rescues are performed by specialized heavy-duty towing teams using cranes, winches, rotators, cables, rigging, and other recovery equipment. Your job is to visually demonstrate how each rescue was executed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Recreate heavy-vehicle accident procedural rescue scenes in 3D based on reference footage, notes, and production guidance.
  • Model, animate, and visualize towing equipment such as cables, hooks, straps, rotators, winches, and recovery tools.
  • Show the exact attachment points, rigging setups, angles, and maneuvers used during the recovery.
  • Animate step-by-step rescue actions clearly and realistically.
  • Collaborate with producers, directors, and the VFX supervisor to maintain accuracy and consistency.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Strong experience as a 3D Generalist (modeling, rigging, animation, lighting and rendering).
  • Ability to animate mechanical systems, cables, and hard-surface elements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to match real-world physics
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with dynamic simulations (ropes, cables, physics-based animation).
  • Currently legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Must be able to work in-house in our Burnaby office

REQUIRED SOFTWARE SKILLS

  • Autodesk Maya (primary 3D workflow- modeling, rigging, animating)
  • Unreal Engine (for scene assembly, lookdev and rendering)
  • Adobe Photoshop (texture work, asset prep)
  • Adobe After Effects (compositing, motion graphics, cleanup)
  • Blender (additional 3D capability is a plus)

START DATE: MARCH 9, 2026

Contract Duration: 9 months

Salary Range: $1500 to $1700 per week, depending on experience.
