Compensation: $2530 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Hours: 2030 hours per week

Wharton Medical Clinic Clinical Trials is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Phlebotomist & Laboratory Technician to support ongoing and upcoming clinical research studies. This is a specialized, part-time role combining direct patient interaction with laboratory and documentation responsibilities in a regulated clinical trials environment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This is not a standard phlebotomy role. The position combines certified phlebotomy duties with laboratory and documentation responsibilities that support clinical trials conducted under Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. Accuracy, consistency, and compliance are critical.The role offers a stable, lower-throughput work environment compared to hospital or commercial lab settings, with a strong emphasis on quality, documentation, and patient experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy procedures for clinical trial participants in accordance with approved study protocols
  • Prepare, label, process, and store biological specimens for clinical research
  • Conduct routine laboratory procedures required to support clinical trial activities
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant documentation in accordance with GCP and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Operate, clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and trial materials
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements
  • Support monitoring visits, audits, and inspections as required
  • Collaborate with clinical, research, and operations staff to ensure smooth trial execution


WHO YOU ARE - Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognized Phlebotomy Certification (mandatory)
  • Associate or Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Previous experience in a clinical, hospital, or research laboratory setting preferred
  • Experience with or familiarity with GCP documentation standards is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working in regulated, protocol-driven environments
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with basic laboratory systems and electronic documentation tools
