The Continuous Improvement Specialist (Contract Role) is a member of the distribution team that drives operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives. They will analyze DC processes and make suggestions on areas of improvement. Working with DC management teams will drive implementation and sustain improvements. The position is based in Woodbridge, Ontario and will require frequent travel (about 40%). The Continuous Improvement Specialist will report directly to the Manager of Distribution. This is a one-year contract role with the possibility for renewal.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste, and cost reduction.
- Planning, facilitating and executing continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodology.
- Creating a culture of improvement by encouraging suggestions and implementing improvements.
- Ensure DCs deliver world-class customer service through operational excellence.
- Drive constant improvement in the distribution process.
- Ownership of change initiatives from evolution through to project delivery.
- Work closely with DCs to provide them with the necessary tools required to operate efficiently and to grow the business profitably.
- Create and maintain the foundation for standard work for business processes.
- Develop and maintain training materials for processes.
- Develop and maintain SOPs for operational processes.
- Complete post-implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery and sustainability.
- Conduct all business in accordance with Company policy and procedures.
- Ensure that DCs maintain a safe working environment in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Experience & Skills:
- Requires a minimum 10 years' experience in a Distribution environment.
- Minimum 5 years work experience in a Distribution continuous improvement environment. i.e., WMS, automation, DC processes, project management.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required, Black Belt preferred.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S.
- Experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management implementing best practices.
- Experience in successfully implementing changes in an organization.
- Strong communication, active listening and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to embrace and encourage teamwork.
- Ability to create and implement new directions in an effort to lead the region to achieve its full potential.
- Possess effective planning, organizing and delegating skills.
- Must be able to commute daily to our Woodbridge, ON facility.
- Must be able to travel up to 40% of the time (Once a month, sometimes twice a month).
Education:
- University degree or college diploma required.
