Our client in the public sector is seeking a contract based Cyber Analytics Specialist

This role is responsible for designing automated workflows, building resilient data pipelines, and developing dashboards that deliver clear, actionable insights for executive and operational decision-making.


Location: 3d/week Toronto

Duration: 6 months + 6 month ext


Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize AWS data pipelines (S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Step Functions) for cyber security reporting.
  • Automate data ingestion, transformation, and quality checks; resolve pipeline and ingestion issues.
  • Perform data cleaning, validation, version control, and support flat-file operations.
  • Design, update, and troubleshoot Tableau dashboards; manage user access and support future EntraID SSO integration.
  • Develop scripts, reusable ETL components, and API integrations to streamline workflows and automate data exchanges.
  • Enhance legacy workflows using Python, JavaScript, VBA, or other scripting tools.
  • Configure and maintain JIRA workflows, dashboards, permissions, and automations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure reliable reporting, data integrity, and operational continuity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual effort, and strengthen automation across systems.


Requirements:

  • AWS Expertise: Hands-on experience with S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Step Functions, and managing production data pipelines.
  • Data Engineering Skills: Strong ETL/ELT development background, SQL proficiency, and experience with data transformation, validation, and automation.
  • Tableau Knowledge: Ability to design, maintain, and troubleshoot Tableau dashboards; familiarity with Tableau administration and user access management.
  • Integration & Automation: Experience integrating APIs, building automation scripts, and applying best practices for workflow automation and version control (Git).
  • Identity & Access Management: Understanding of EntraID, SSO concepts, and IAM compliance best practices.
  • Cyber Security Metrics: Familiarity with cyber security or risk metrics used in executive and operational reporting.
  • JIRA Administration: Experience configuring workflows, dashboards, permissions, and automations, including scripting for workflow enhancements.
  • Scripting & Development: Proficiency with Python, JavaScript, and/or VBA; ability to extend workflows and build reusable components.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot pipeline failures, data issues, and dashboard logic errors.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred Certification: AWS Certified Data Engineer - Associate (or equivalent).
