<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p>Sissons Farms Ltd. is a <strong>pedigree seed and grain operation</strong> located near Portage la Prairie, MB. We are seeking an <strong>experienced, self-motivated farm operator</strong> to play a key role in the day-to-day and seasonal operations of our farm. This is a <strong>full-time, year-round position</strong> intended for individuals with proven experience in grain and seed production.</p><p>Our operation spans approximately <strong>4,500 acres</strong>, producing wheat, oats, canola, soybeans, peas, and edible beans, and operates a modern fleet of <strong>New Holland equipment</strong>.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Independently perform daily, preventive, and annual maintenance on farm machinery, equipment, and trucks</p></li><li><p>Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in both shop and field settings</p></li><li><p>Complete annual servicing and off-season repairs in a heated shop</p></li><li><p>Operate and manage the seed cleaning plant during winter months</p></li><li><p>Safely and efficiently operate tractors, seeding and tillage equipment, sprayers, tandem grain trucks, and augers with minimal supervision</p></li><li><p>Monitor grain inventories and maintain accurate, detailed records</p></li><li><p>Coordinate and fulfill customer seed pickups</p></li><li><p>Assist with building, yard, and property maintenance as required</p></li></ul><p>Required Experience & Qualifications</p><ul><li><p><strong>Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience</strong> in <strong>western farming practices</strong></p></li><li><p>Demonstrated experience operating modern farm equipment and grain handling systems</p></li><li><p>Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment</p></li><li><p>Comfortable performing metal work and welding</p></li><li><p>Valid <strong>Class 5 driver’s licence or higher</strong> with experience operating tandem grain trucks</p></li><li><p><strong>Ability and willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons</strong>, including early mornings, late nights, evenings, and weekends, as required during seeding, spraying, and harvest</p></li><li><p>Must have <strong>reliable transportation to and from the farm</strong></p></li><li><p>Strong working knowledge of safe equipment operation and farm safety practices</p></li><li><p>Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, communicate clearly and make sound decisions</p></li><li><p>Comfortable with technology and digital record-keeping systems</p></li><li><p>Physically capable of demanding farm work in varying conditions</p></li><li><p>Dependable, honest, and professional work ethic</p></li></ul><p>What We Offer</p><ul><li><p><strong>Full-time, year-round employment</strong> on a progressive seed and grain farm</p></li><li><p><strong>Private on-farm housing available</strong></p></li><li><p>Competitive compensation <strong>commensurate with experience and ability</strong>, with opportunity for review and adjustment once proven</p></li><li><p>Stable, long-term opportunity for the right candidate</p></li></ul><p> </p></p>Company Description<p>Sissons Farms is a family operated grain farm located just outside of Portage la Prairie.
