The Welder plays a pivotal role on the Operations team. As Armstrong continues to grow in manufacturing capacity and efficiency, we are looking for a dependable and hard-working individual who will be responsible for pressure vessel production. This includes, but is not limited to, fitting and welding metal pressure vessels, welding by way of Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), ensuring quality manufacturing, reporting product defects, contributing ideas to improve efficiencies, and adhering to all health and safety policies and best practices.


This position is based out of Scarborough, Ontario and reports directly to the Supervisor, Heaters. T


In addition to annual initiatives, the key responsibilities are as follows:


Key Accountabilities:

  • Following all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations constantly in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Reading, understanding, and following blueprints, work instructions, and welding procedures.
  • Preparing all material surfaces prior to welding.
  • Operating welding equipment to bond components in the horizontal position (2G).
  • Marking, recording, and reporting material defects as required.
  • Utilizing overhead and jib-cranes as well as other lifting devices.
  • Using safe material handling equipment.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.


What Were Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

  • 3-5 years experience in a welder function, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards required.
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Sub-Arc Welding (SAW) experience required.
  • Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB), Canadian Standards Association (CSA) W47, or ASME certification considered an asset.
  • Proficient ability to read, understand, and follow specific work instructions and blueprints for made-to-order products.
  • Working knowledge and experience of plasm and oxyacetylene.
  • Strong sense of urgency in a time-sensitive working environment.
  • Great team-oriented attitude, while capable of working independently.
  • Working knowledge of typical measuring equipment, including tape measures.
  • Ability to work while standing, bending squatting, and lifting up to 60lbs.
  • Strong verbal communication in English.
