Job Description


WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The Full Stack Developer will join the Global Middle Office (GBOI) team under the BCS Technology group of RBC Capital Markets. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying full-stack solutions for middle office and back office applications, supporting both new projects and business-as-usual enhancements. The candidate will provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with business partners to deliver tactical and strategic solutions across our platform.


Responsibilities



  • The candidate will divide their time across system design, development and deployment (60%), production support and analysis (30%), and documentation (10%)

  • Develop and support middle and back office applications for new projects and resolve system defects

  • Work closely with team members and business partners to understand requirements and implement effective solutions

  • Take ownership of both tactical and strategic solutions aligned with system roadmap initiatives

  • Proactively identify system inefficiencies and propose solutions to stakeholders

  • Follow SDLC best practices by supporting metrics, test-driven development, release cycles, change management, and cross-functional communication

  • Document system design, solution proposals, and release notes


What You Need to Succeed


Must have:



  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience in software design and development

  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming

  • Strong core Java experience, including development of large-scale web or client-server applications

  • Hands-on experience with scripting languages (tcl, shell, Python) in Unix/Linux environments

  • Demonstrated strength with relational databases (Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server) and SQL programming

  • Framework architecture, design, and development experience

  • Proven ability supporting enterprise applications in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments

  • Knowledge of GitHub, Jenkins, Helios, JIRA, and Confluence

  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and troubleshooting skills

  • Previous financial industry experience in capital markets, middle office, or back office operations

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills


Nice-to-have:



  • General understanding of FIX protocol

  • Working experience with Fidessa framework development

  • Experience with technologies/frameworks like NoSQL, real time database, micro-services and design approaches including event-driven architecture, cloud-based deployments, Service Oriented approaches, Streaming

  • Cypress based framework Development Experience for Rabacus Testing Environment
