The Volunteer’s Role

The Fundraising & Resource Mobilization Advisor will ensure successful program delivery by shaping project plans, monitoring progress, and reviewing execution and expenditures. Responsibilities include designing an evaluation framework, analyzing best practices, and compiling donor reports. This role requires strong organizational skills to support strategic planning, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate with international volunteers, providing support and guidance to managers and staff.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Support the mobilization of both financial and non-financial resources from private sector entities, individuals, and corporate organizations.
  • Aid in the creation of a resource mobilization work plan and consistently monitor its implementation. This includes designing and drafting materials for communication with various potential donors and agencies.
  • Facilitate the processing of agreements related to funding opportunities and ensure efficient and prompt follow-up regarding the submission of reports to donors and proposals for grant renewals.
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fundraising, International Development, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field in a relevant field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in fundraising projects focused on women and youth empowerment.
  • Financial literacy and strong networking skills are required.
  • Proficient in grant and proposal writing and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in effective project management delivery.

    Volunteer Support and Requirements 

    Support Package

    Cuso International provides a comprehensive support package to ensure volunteers maintain a modest and healthy lifestyle aligned with local standards. This includes:

  • Confirm passport or permanent resident details for travel 
  • Provide two professional references and one personal reference 
  • Complete a language assessment during the initial phone interview 
  • Pass a police check and medical clearance before departure 
  • Comply with anti-terrorism checks 
  • Agree to uphold the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy and Code of Conduct 
  • Residency and Citizenship: Candidates are responsible for confirming how volunteering internationally may affect their citizenship or residency status. Canadian Permanent Residents should verify requirements with Immigration Canada before travel.
