About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health and Safety Coordinator to support and enhance our safety programs across multiple provinces. This role is key to ensuring a safe workplace, maintaining compliance with applicable legislation, and fostering a strong safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, programs, and procedures in compliance with OHSA, WSIB, WHMIS, and provincial regulations (Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia)
  • Conduct routine workplace and equipment inspections with the Warehouse Supervisor to identify hazards and ensure timely corrective actions
  • Investigate incidents/accidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective and preventive measures
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including training logs, inspection records, and incident summaries
  • Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety matters across all provinces
  • Coordinate and schedule job-specific training (eg. brazing, working at heights, CO2, Refrigeration, First Aid)
  • Support emergency preparedness initiatives, including fire drills, first aid procedures, and evacuation planning
  • Track and manage PPE, safety equipment, and tools distributed to Technicians; verify proper stocking of fleet vehicles
  • Collaborate with management to promote a positive, proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement
  • Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and ensure follow-up on all recommendations and action items
  • Monitor changes in health and safety legislation and industry best practices, communicating updates promptly to the organization
  • Support additional safety functions such as PPE clothing programs, fleet/vehicle safety, customer portals, and training setup

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
  • Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience in a health and safety role
  • Strong working knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and training skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certifications (or willingness to obtain)
