Salary Range: $80,000–$90,000 CAD per year

Manufacturing Engineer Job Responsibilities:

Develop and improve boiler products’ assembly techniques and processes by reviewing product and manufacturing methods to optimize assembly operations.

Job Duties:

  • Reporting to the Plant Manager, will work closely with the operational managers.
  • Lead and execute strategic cost reduction, quality improvement projects in cooperation with the other business stake holders.
  • Lead the change management process for current and new products.
  • Responsible for BOM structures and updates in ERP system (IFS) in connection to shop floor documentation (shop orders, pick lists).
  • Work with the RD and Drafting, Purchasing, QC, Materials, Production Departments and suppliers to launch the new products or alternative parts.
  • Write and update SWI (Standard Work Instructions) for all product group families.
  • Support continuous process improvement projects, prepare A3s and play an active role as a key technical member.
  • Support capital projects and assist other departments as needed.
  • Trial and validate new m/material introductions.
  • Implement time studies as required.
  • Deep knowledge in DFM, lean manufacturing, 6-Sigma, Kaizen concepts.
  • Assist Plant 5S program.
  • Assist in the implementation of lean tools in production and participate in corporate/local Kaizen events.
  • Engage shop floor, suppliers, engineers and if necessary, work in different time zones to possibly support Low-Cost Country (LCC) sourcing or cost out engineering partners located in LCC’s.
  • Attend weekday / weekend overtime as per business needs.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Able to travel within Canada and company US locations.
  • Previous experience in boiler manufacturing industry is a great asset.
  • Comfortable with MS-Office, A-CAD software.

Work Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. It may be needed from time to time to attend overtime/shift work as per business needs.

Other Duties: As assigned by the Plant Manager.

Internal Contacts: Contacts required as a regular part of daily duties involving work of non-controversial nature.

External Contacts: Suppliers and internal customers

Education Required:

Engineering degree (Min. B.Sc. in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering)

Experience Required: 3+ years of operational experience in industrial plants.

Physical Skill and Effort:

Requires skilled, accurate, rapid, and closely coordinated manual skills. Work also requires a considerable variety of fairly steady, active physical exertion.
