<p>Job Description<br>Responsible to perform routine inspections of the municipality's roadways and observe both weather and road conditions in the field and electronically to determine if a winter event response is required. Must be available to work overnight shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.</p><p>Job Requirements</p><ul><li>Practical working knowledge of Municipal infrastructure operations. Previous experience as a Roads Operator an asset.</li><li>Traffic control and Book 7 training required. Knowledge of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act and defensive driving techniques in order to safely operate Town equipment and vehicles.</li><li>Ability to operate a small truck and front plough.</li><li>Good problem-solving, record-keeping, and analytical skills.</li><li>Sound decision making abilities in order to make decisions concerning weather and road-related conditions.</li><li>Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.</li><li>Working knowledge of the Minimum Maintenance Standards</li><li>Good communication and collaboration skills with ability to deal effectively and courteously with staff and general public.</li><li>Availability and ability to work overnight shifts from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Thursday through Saturday or as designated by Roads Supervisor.</li><li>Ability to work in unfavourable working conditions.</li><li>Practical working knowledge of health and safety regulations, WHMIS, and procedures to deal with roads maintenance observations and winter patrol.</li><li>Class "G" Driver's Licence required in good standing and a clean drivers abstract.</li></ul>
