Printer Operator (Afternoon)


Our client is an established signage company in Markham with over 20 years of experience servicing commercial, industrial, and retail clients.


They are looking for a Printer Operator who has hands-on UV printer experience and understands both the equipment and the materials for their afternoon shift (2:30PM to 11:00PM).


Responsibilities:


  • Operate and maintain large-format UV printers including SwissQ, EFI, and other roll-to-roll and hybrid machines
  • Set up jobs, run production, and monitor print quality (color, banding, adhesion, curing, registration)
  • Load, handle, and run a wide range of materials and recognize how different substrates behave
  • Follow dockets/work orders accurately (read, write, understand production instructions)
  • Keep the print area organized, clean, and safe (daily housekeeping is a must)
  • Work closely with prepress, finishing, and shipping to hit deadlines and reduce reprints


Qualifications:


  • Previous UV printing experience (flatbed, roll-to-roll, hybrid, or a combination)
  • Equipment brand can vary, but they must understand UV print fundamentals
  • Strong familiarity with material recognition and handling, including:
  • Rigid: Coroplast, acrylic, PVC (and similar rigid sheet goods)
  • Roll media: common vinyls including 2 mil and 4 mil (and similar films)
  • Ability to stay organized, keep a clean station, and follow process
  • Comfortable reading and writing production notes and understanding a docket/work order
  • Team-first attitude, dependable, consistent, and quality-focused
  • Experience with both rigid and roll production environments is an asset
  • Basic print maintenance and troubleshooting (heads, cleaning routines, alignment checks)
  • Understanding of finishing handoffs (lamination, cutting, packaging requirements)
