Product Owner – Insurance Data & Analytics (Group Benefits)



This hybrid Toronto-based role will be accountable for understanding the business across Group Benefits, translating requirements into detailed agile stories and data views. They will be actively engaged in our analytics development cycle from an ideation/requirements/testing perspective, while also investigating data issues and answering data inquiries from our business partners.



What is in it for you:




• Salaried: $60-65 per hour.


• Incorporated business rate: $70-80 per hour.


• 15.5-month contract.


• Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.


• Hybrid work – 3 days in the office



Responsibilities:




• Liaise with business partners to analyze sophisticated/complex problems and understand business and technical goals and objectives.


• Lead the execution of strategic initiatives and special projects by assessing their value, preparing detailed specifications, communicating requirements, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions and product increments are in accordance with the business needs.


• Produce high quality user stories and acceptance criteria which support technical and business requirements.


• Understand testing requirements and build and support test planning and execution to validate that system solutions meet the business requirements.


• Foresees problems instead of solving them, recognizes the needs for flexibility and diverse solutions.


• Become a data domain subject matter expert while expanding Group Benefits business acumen


• Collaborate/coordinate with the Agile Kanban squad and business partners to deliver the Data Value Stream roadmap


• Identify opportunities and leading or overseeing initiatives to improve processes.


• Actively engage in prioritizing and advocating for enhancements


• Use appropriate judgment in dealing with unexpected issues and requests, demonstrating an ability to prioritize work.



What you will need to succeed:




• University/College in computer science, information technology, math, or a related field.


• Beginner/Intermediate proficiency in SQL.


• Experience with Power BI, Azure DataBricks is an asset.


• Experience and business knowledge in Financial Services and/or Group Benefits is a valuable asset.


• Proven 5+ years' experience in a Senior Business Analytics / Business Analyst or Product Owner role.


• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.


• Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude.


• Capable of adapting quickly, managing multiple demands & competing priorities, while delivering to deadline.
