<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Salary: <br /><p>Position Summary</p><p>The Cardiology Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) is empowered and responsible to act as a highly-trained RVT on the clinical floor to set an example of patient care, client care, and teamwork at Pulse Veterinary Specialists & Emergency.</p><p></p><p>Were also excited to share that our hospital is expanding! With the addition of a second Veterinary Cardiologist to our team, we are looking for another Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) to join us. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing, collaborative team and to work alongside specialists while continuing to provide exceptional care to our patients and clients.</p><p></p><p>The Cardiology RVT will report to the Lead Specialty RVT and work closely with our two Cardiologists to deliver high level patient care.</p><p></p><p>This position offers a compressed work week of four 10-hour shifts, scheduled Monday through Friday, with opportunities to pick up additional overtime shifts.</p><p></p><p>Duties and Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Performs all technical responsibilities of a RVT including:<ul><li>Usage and care of medical equipment, as well as sterilization techniques.</li><li>Placing IV catheters; calculating drug doses, fluid requirements and CRIs.</li><li>Understanding higher risk anesthesia for the cardiac patient, ventilator setup, direct arterial pressure monitoring and monitoring of the cardiac patient.</li><li>Rhythm monitoring and identification of a rhythm that requires intervention.</li><li>Performing CPR and set up and use of a defibrillator.</li><li>Producing diagnostic quality radiographs.</li><li>Understanding and assisting with advanced diagnostics including echocardiograms, fluoroscopy, diagnostic ECGs, Holter monitoring and telemetry.</li><li>Set up of the OR for interventional procedures and pressure injector setup for angiography.</li><li>Managing hospitalized patients, performing recovery care and assisting with specialized treatments (e.g. cardiac catheterization, pacemakers).</li></ul></li><li>Provides education, home care instructions, and nutritional counseling to customers.</li><li>General supervision of Technologist Assistant (TA) team members.</li><li>Provides support and enhances the educational experience of senior year veterinary students, interns, and residents.</li><li>Supports management of customer complaints as required in partnership with the Lead Specialty RVT and Hospital Manager, interacting with clientele to deescalate, resolve, and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.</li><li>Maintains practice software including client and patient record management.</li><li>Follows all SOPs to support smooth hospital operations.</li><li>Follows all federal and provincial animal health laws and regulations regarding workplace health and safety.</li><li>Openly and proactively communicates updates to DVMs, Lead Specialty RVT and other department team members.
