<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p>Our Land and Permitting group is currently looking to add a <strong>Right of Way (ROW) Planner</strong> to our growing team, based in Edmonton, AB.</p><p>Reporting to the Senior Manager, Land and Permitting, we are seeking a skilled and motivated professional who has experience supporting facility siting and route planning, stakeholder engagement, access planning, and regulatory compliance work. This role is critical in ensuring the successful planning and execution of ROW activities across diverse and challenging environments.</p>Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Support route and site selection for transmission lines and substations, optimizing siting criteria and stakeholder needs</li><li>Participate in public engagement activities including open houses and stakeholder meetings</li><li>Review and assess client bids, ECI proposals, RFPs, and RFQs</li><li>Develop detailed Scope of Work (SOW) documents tailored to project requirements</li><li>Prepare and manage ROW access and clearing plans, reports, and supporting documentation</li><li>Plan access routes, clearing zones, and water crossing strategies in alignment with environmental and scheduling constraints</li><li>Coordinate with environmental, engineering, and construction teams for integrated planning</li><li>Identify and mitigate risks related to terrain, land use, and seasonal access limitations</li><li>Develop cost estimates </li><li>for ROW clearing, access construction, and related activities</li><li>Collaborate with GIS teams to gather metrics, update plans, and generate client documentation</li><li>Work with ROW subcontractors on pricing and project development</li><li>Support permitting processes, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as needed</li><li>Collaborate with regulators and internal/external stakeholders to address access and clearing concerns</li><li>Facilitate communication and coordination with contractors and service providers</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Geography, Engineering, or related field</li><li>3 years’ experience supporting Right of Way activities (access and/or clearing planning, transmission projects, or related roles)</li><li>Proven experience with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) </li><li>Understanding of regulatory and environmental permitting processes</li><li>Demonstrated experience with Microsoft office programs</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including an RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing. </p><p><strong>About our Business</strong></p><p>Valard Construction is Canada’s premier utility contractor providing comprehensive EPC+ (engineering, procurement, construction) and maintenance services to utilities, independent power producers, mining, oil and gas industries and rural electric associations.
