Overview
We are looking for an experienced accounting professional who brings strong audit knowledge and a proactive, detail-focused approach. In this role, you will oversee a variety of assurance and accounting files, guide junior team members, and support clients across a wide range of sectors. This position includes involvement in both audit and compilation work, and provides a clear path for continued professional development.
What You'll Do
Take ownership of audit, review, and compilation engagements, ensuring all work aligns with applicable professional standards.
Prepare and evaluate financial statements, disclosures, and supporting documentation in accordance with ASPE.
Oversee junior team members during engagements, offering coaching and constructive feedback as needed.
Conduct risk assessments, identify gaps or weaknesses in controls, and propose practical, actionable recommendations to clients.
Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and planning of engagements to ensure timely and efficient completion.
Provide support on accounting and financial reporting matters, including year-end adjustments and related queries.
Work collaboratively with tax colleagues to ensure consistency between financial and tax reporting deliverables.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through timely communication and value-driven service.
Stay current with relevant accounting and assurance requirements (e.g., CPA Canada standards, CSRS, CAS).
Partner with senior staff and management during file planning and wrap-up to ensure engagement milestones are met.
Deliver attentive and customized client service while identifying opportunities to enhance processes or expand support offerings.
Work closely with firm leadership to support day-to-day workflow and contribute to high-quality client outcomes.
What You Bring
CPA designation (or near completion) is required.
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Approximately 5–6 years of experience within a public accounting environment, including direct involvement in assurance engagements.
Strong understanding of ASPE, CAS, and related assurance frameworks.
Experience using CaseWare, CaseView, Taxprep, or comparable accounting tools.
Strong analytical and organizational capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Clear and professional communication skills, plus a commitment to excellent client service.
