Senior Roadway Inspector

Job Description

Kusiar Project Services Inc., a trusted leader in Contract Administration and Site Inspection services across Ontario, is currently seeking a qualified Senior Roadway Inspector for a full-time contract on a major municipal road reconstruction project in the Region of Peel. This is a long-term assignment with an expected duration of approximately 1.5 to 2 years and offers an opportunity to lead critical on-site operations while upholding compliance, quality control, and coordination across all project stakeholders.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive daily on-site inspections to ensure all work meets contract specifications, approved drawings, OPSS/OPSD standards, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Perform inspection of tunneling works and trenchless installations, including large-diameter CPP pipe installations
  • Actively participate in construction progress meetings and contribute to detailed meeting minutes
  • Generate and submit detailed daily and weekly inspection reports
  • Maintain Construction and Maintenance Daily Logs as part of internal QA/QC processes
  • Coordinate effectively with Contractors, Consultants, Owners, and Testing Agencies
  • Manage construction RFIs and shop drawing reviews, providing clear field-based input
  • Verify materials, monitor workmanship quality, and report any deviations from contract documents
  • Provide field-driven constructability solutions and prepare supporting sketches as required
  • Assist in inspection and testing of watermain, sanitary, storm sewer, and tunneled pipeline installations
  • Monitor and verify erosion and sediment control measures, including CB sediment traps, stockpile protection, and daily roadway sediment cleanup, in accordance with approved ESC plans
  • Ensure safe coordination around existing overhead and underground utilities in compliance with OHSA and applicable utility regulations
  • Inspect sidewalk and curb construction to verify concrete strength, curing, and conformance with OPSD and design drawings
  • Validate subgrade preparation, compaction, pavement base layers, and asphalt placement in accordance with specified pavement structures and OPSD standards
  • Develop and monitor deficiency lists and confirm completion of corrective actions
  • Confirm quantities for payment, evaluate claims and extras, and provide documentation support
  • Contribute to Monthly Progress Payment Certificates, Contemplated Change Notices, and Change Orders
  • Maintain a visual record of construction activities through daily digital photography


Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Technology or related discipline
  • Seven to ten plus years of direct experience in municipal infrastructure inspection, including roads, sidewalks, and water or sewer systems
  • Minimum seven years of hands-on tunneling inspection experience, including large-diameter CPP piping 750 millimetres or greater
  • Registered or eligible with OACETT as C Tech, C E T, or RCSI, or with PEO as an E I T
  • Strong working knowledge of OPSS and OPSD standards
  • Experience working on active urban reconstruction sites, including complex utility coordination
  • Proficient in construction documentation, including RFIs, Change Orders, QA or QC tracking, and deficiency management
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project, and digital field reporting tools
  • Valid Ontario G class driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Certifications in First Aid, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, and other construction safety training are considered assets. Training can be arranged if required
