Senior Structural Engineer – Discipline Lead


Location: Toronto or Vancouver.


Our client is an engineering consultancy supporting major mining and industrial developments, seeking Senior Structural Engineer to act as discipline lead for ongoing and upcoming projects.


Base pay range


CA$100,000.00/yr – CA$135,000.00/yr


Responsibilities



  • Lead the structural discipline for major mining and industrial projects.

  • Conduct site investigations and prepare design recommendations.

  • Review and design structural components including steel, concrete, and building envelope systems.

  • Develop concept studies, quantity estimates, and preliminary layouts.

  • Perform detailed analysis and member sizing with supporting calculations.

  • Oversee design documentation, drawing packages, and tendering deliverables.

  • Coordinate with internal design teams and other disciplines.

  • Provide cost estimating input, technical review, and QA/QC oversight.

  • Ensure design compliance with applicable Canadian and American codes.

  • Prepare and review technical reports and specifications.

  • Support project execution, contract administration, and budget management.

  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and contractors; participate in presentations and site visits.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • P.Eng. registration in Canada.

  • 10+ years of progressive structural design experience, primarily in mining or heavy industrial sectors.

  • Proven ability to lead teams and seal structural drawing packages.

  • Strong understanding of structural steel, concrete foundations, brace connections, and mill foundation design.

  • Familiar with structural analysis software such as RISA, Advanced Steel, and BIM tools (software proficiency is flexible).

  • Solid grasp of both Canadian and American codes.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to guide multidisciplinary teams.

  • Willingness to travel for site reviews and inspections.
