Full-Time Seasonal (Monday – Friday, 33.75-35 hours/week)
Compensation:
$18.15/hour

The Position:
We welcome all families into our programs and work to remove the barriers that prevent children from actively participating. In this role, you will work alongside the camp counsellors to provide support for children with additional needs (both diagnosed and undiagnosed). You will help to fully integrate children into the camp experience while ensuring the safety and supervision of the children. In partnership with the camp team, you will work to create an environment of camaraderie and respect among campers.
Responsibilities
Build rapport and guide individual behaviour of children with additional support needs, to ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment for all.
Identify and respond to the interests and needs of the children, and adapt and/or modify camp activities with the goal of integration.
Understand and follow the guidelines as outlined in the children’s Individual Support Plan and Safety Plan (where applicable).
Adhere to the program structure and guidelines as outlined, and access program resources and support from the camp director.
Fully and enthusiastically participate in all camp activities, while being a positive role model and reflecting the values of the organization.
Communicate professionally with colleagues, families, partners, and other SPC employees.
Ensure family inquiries and concerns are shared with the camp director to ensure prompt, professional follow-up.
Attend and fully participate in all employee orientation, training and meetings as outlined.

Qualifications, Education and Experience
Minimum of 17 years old Post‑Secondary enrolment in a relevant field is an asset (i.e. CYW, OCT, Recreation and Leisure, Recreation Leadership).
Experience working with children with diagnosed and undiagnosed special needs within a camp setting.
Experience planning and facilitating programs for children 5-12 years within a camp environment.
Valid up to date Standard First Aid with CPR C (prior to the start of contract).
Holds High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification (asset).
