In this role, you will be a part of the Transportation electrical team of the Building sector.


What a day at EXP has in store for you



  • Act as technical lead and/or project manager on electrical projects related to traffic signal design and/or roadway lighting projects.

  • Act as a senior technical resource and electrical task lead.

  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor.

  • Prepare detailed designs for transportation electrical systems using AutoCAD and/or Microstation.

  • Develop traffic signal design and layouts based on OPSS, OTM standards and local municipal standards.

  • Perform complete lighting analysis using AGi32.

  • Conduct detailed calculations such as voltage drop, photometrics, conductor and conduit sizing, and grounding to ensure that designs meet relevant engineering standards and applicable codes.

  • Design of electrical layouts for cable raceways/underground conduits, lighting, panel schedules design, lighting poles and base details, luminaire schedule, electrical grounding.

  • Preparing Contract documents, including specifications and cost estimates.

  • Perform site visits and contract administration.


What your experience looks like



  • An Engineering degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited University, and P.Eng is required.

  • Minimum of (5) years continuous experience in detailed design and design consultancy.

  • Previous experience in Transportation and Transit projects is a must.

  • Knowledge of various municipal and MTO lighting and traffic signal design standards.

  • Knowledge of IES-RP-8 and Roadway lighting and Parking lot lighting.

  • Experience with advanced lighting design tools (AGi32 and Autolux).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation and SPIDACalc.

  • Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards (OESC, CSA, OBC, NFPA, AREMA and IEEE standards).

  • RAQS certification would be considered as an asset.
