Main functions: To melt and pour aluminum into molds for the production of parts as per Standard Manufacturers Services Ltd's policies and procedures.


Duties:
  • Operates and monitors foundry furnaces used to melt aluminum.
  • Fluxes and skims molten aluminum.
  • Setups and operates tilt pours to cast aluminum parts.
  • Follow casting work package procedures. 
  • Handles ladle molten aluminum into molds.
  • Removes aluminum castings from molds.
  • Visually inspects castings for non-conformance to ensure the quality of castings is produced.
  • Reports any issues that might affect production to the supervisor.
  • Finishing of casting through saw cutting and sanding procedures for gate removal.
  • Completes work package documentation. 
  • Clean work areas and equipment.
  • Support Standard Manufacturers Services Ltd's Lean initiative.



Working Conditions/ Physical Capabilities:
  • Shift 4 days a week 10 hours a day (Days or Afternoons).
  • Repetitive tasks.
  • Handling heavy loads up to 50 pounds.
  • Physically demanding.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Hand-eye co-ordination.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Self-starter.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team. 

Employment Requirements:
  • High School preferred but not required.
  • Good understanding of the English language both verbal and written. 
  • On-the-job training is provided.
